A very attractive antique Japanese Imari porcelain plate, dating from the late 19th century, Meiji period. 
Beautifully hand decorated in the traditional Imari palette of rich cobalt blue and iron red, with delicate gilt detailing. The design features a central vase overflowing with flowers, surrounded by alternating decorative panels of flowers and stylised motifs. 
Particularly lovely is the scalloped, chrysanthemum-style rim, which gives the plate an unusually decorative form and makes it ideal for display. 
The reverse is simply decorated with hand painted blue floral motifs and concentric blue lines around the foot. Unmarked, as is common with Japanese Imari porcelain of this period.
